Our mission is simple, but not small.
We believe church is not first and foremost a building, a service time, or a notice sheet. Church is people, people loved by God, people asking questions, people carrying hope, grief, doubt, joy, exhaustion, faith, and curiosity, often all at once.
Across the parishes of the United Benefice of Bradworthy, our calling is to notice where God is already at work in our communities and to join in gently, faithfully, and with a deep respect for the rural places and people we serve.
Our villages are diverse. Some are farming communities shaped by the rhythms of land and livestock. Others are quieter, more residential, or more hidden. Some people feel very connected to church buildings; many don’t. And that’s okay.
We recognise that plenty of people are still searching, still wondering, still praying, they just don’t always connect that search with a church doorway. Our mission is not to drag people back to church, but to walk alongside them as they explore life, meaning, faith, and hope.
Sometimes that happens in a church. Sometimes in a village hall. Sometimes over breakfast, in a pub, beside a grave, under coloured lights, or in the middle of a muddy field.
We believe the Christian faith is not about having all the answers. It’s about trusting a God who is present, especially in the places where life feels heavy, uncertain, or stretched thin.
That’s why our mission pays attention to real life:
We are committed to being a church that listens before it speaks, serves before it assumes, and loves without conditions.
At the heart of everything we do is Jesus, not as a distant religious figure, but as someone who still invites people into life relationship. Jesus did not build institutions first. He walked roads, shared meals, noticed people others overlooked, and spoke of a kingdom already breaking into ordinary life. We try to take our cue from him. The invitation Jesus offers is still the same:
“Come and see.”
Not come and behave.
Not come and believe the right things first.
Just: come and see.
Our mission is to make space for that invitation — in ways that feel honest, hospitable, and real.
We value relationships over results, presence over pressure, and faithfulness over flashiness.
That means:
Some of what we do looks like worship.
Some looks like conversation.
Some looks like quiet acts of kindness no one ever notices.
All of it matters.
Mission here is not “the church’s project” it’s something we share.
Whether you consider yourself a Christian, a hopeful sceptic, quietly spiritual, or not sure what you believe at all, you are part of this story simply by being here.
We don’t expect everyone to believe the same thing. We do hope everyone knows they are welcome. If you’re curious, tired, hopeful, doubtful, faithful, or just passing through you’re invited to walk with us for a while. Because church isn’t going anywhere. It’s already here.
